Dr Belinda Lovell Elected as Stormwater
Dr Belinda Lovell, based in Victoria, has been endorsed as the next President of
Stormwater Australia at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Stormwater
Australia National Committee in Melbourne late last week (15 December).
Lovell was nominated for the role at the AGM by the Board of Stormwater Australia.
Her appointment as President is an exciting one for the industry.
While she has strong stormwater credentials, it is her inclusive leadership and
management expertise that will ensure Stormwater Australia has a presence as our
country’s leading stormwater professional association.
Before outlining her agenda, Lovell firstly wanted to acknowledge the outstanding
contribution of outgoing President Andrew Allan.
“Anyone who has worked closely with Andrew knows the remarkable job he has
done over the past five years.
“Most people in the industry don’t get to see first-hand the extraordinary number
of hours Andrew has put into the Association and its business in his time as
“No-one has worked harder and longer for the stormwater sector. I want to make
sure his effort is appropriately recognised,” Lovell added.
In terms of setting out an agenda Lovell indicated her commitment to getting the
process of how we work together right first.
“Everyone involved at a Board level, through either the national or state
organisations, is a volunteer and they only have a certain amount of hours in the
week or month to dedicate.
“I want to establish a way of working at the national level that, when successfully
implemented, leverages the most from our highly skilled Board to provide
significant value to our members.
“I am keen to ensure we are providing trusted stewardship and valued service
provision for our members.”
